What Is Express Entry?
The Canadian government unveiled a new electronic immigration system in January 2015 that provides eligible and trained immigrants with express entry to Canada.
The new Express Entry program will administer permanent residency applications for immigrants who can fill positions where there is a lack of skilled Canadian workers available.
Who Is Eligible For Express Entry?
Candidates with university or college degrees with professional work experience and moderate proficiency in English and/or French are ideal applicants.
Applicants who qualify for the following programs are also eligible to apply for the Express Entry program:
- Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)
- Federal Skilled Trades (FST)
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
In general, to be eligible to apply to Express Entry as a professional worker, you must:
- Have at least one year of consistent full-time (or comparable part-time) work experience as a qualified professional in the last 10 years.
- Be able to display a minimum of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) seven in either English or French on an approved language test
- Completed post-secondary schooling with an Educational Credential Assessment evaluated against Canadian standards.
These are all the minimum conditions to apply as an eligible worker for Express Entry. Meeting these requirements does not mean that you can have an invitation to apply for permanent residency in Canada.
Applicants with better profiles will often be preferred over applicants who simply fulfil the minimum requirement.
Benefits Of The Express Entry System
Faster Application Processing:
One can receive a Canada PR visa within only six months or less via the Express Entry program. The term starts on the date of the submission.
Electronic system:
The entire processing of applications is performed by an automated device under the Express Entry scheme. It indicates that candidates are chosen solely based on their CRS ratings.
Reduced criteria for the CRS score:
Canada aims to accept more immigrants into the country. As a result, in the Express Entry drawings, the IRCC can reduce the minimum CRS score necessary to be selected.
The Federal Immigration System:
Since Canada Express Entry is a federal immigration system, those who request an invitation to apply can apply for permanent residency in Canada under the program directly.
How Can I Apply For Express Entry?
The Express Entry application is a two-step procedure.
The first step is to submit a profile that requires the following documentation:
- Language test results
- Report on educational credential assessment
- A passport or travel certificate
You would need to request a more substantial application, with reference letters, additional identification documents, police clearance records, and the results of a medical test, after you submit your profile and obtain an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residency.
